Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson was active in Sunday’s game, but did not play or was on the sideline.Jackson’s agent Neil Schwartz told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Jackson deal with mental health issues.
Coach Bill Belichick has said little about Jackson’s situation other than that he missed the game against the Chiefs.
However, the Patriots announced Tuesday that they have placed Jackson on the reserve/non-football list.
New England acquired Jackson from the Chargers in a trade on October 5th. He started his career with the Patriots, played with them from 2018-21, and left the Chargers in the 2022 offseason on a five-year, $82.5 million contract.
The Chargers benched Jackson earlier this season and then cut their losses.
Jackson’s troubles continued in New England, where he missed a trip to Germany to play the Colts on Nov. 12. He told masslive.com that his failure to do a “bed check” at the team hotel the previous week led to his discipline.
Jackson started six games for the Patriots this season, totaling 25 tackles and six passes defended.
The Patriots also announced they have claimed quarterback Nathan Rourke from the Jaguars on waivers and added running back Kevin Harris to the 53-man roster on the practice squad.
They added defensive back William Hooper and running back Keshawn Vaughn to the practice squad.
