STEUBENVILLE — Football prospects from around the country looking to take their talents to the Division I level officially committed to the NCAA early signing period Wednesday.
One of the top prospects currently officially heading to college football’s highest level is Isaac Hill of the Big Red.
Hill, the Big Red’s standout receiver, put pen to paper inside Crimson Commons Wednesday morning, officially announcing his commitment to Bowling Green.
The show’s account on X listed Hill (6-foot-4, 210 pounds) as signed as a tight end. Hill said he could also play receiver or H-back for the Falcons, who play in the Mid-American Conference.
“I’ve been training hard for a long time with my dad, my trainer, (my godfather).” Hill said. “It’s here now. I honed in on that, and now it’s here.
“It has been a really long journey, but I still have a lot of work to do and a lot more to achieve.”
He heads to the program coming off a successful season, as Bowling Green is 7-5 this season and will play Minnesota in Tuesday’s Quick Lane Bowl.
“They showed me the utmost love as I got through it.” He spoke about his choice to wear orange and brown.
Hill played a key role in the Big Red’s four consecutive appearances in the Division IV state finals, finishing this season as a first-team All-Ohio selection and the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Year. Selected as a player. He had 81 catches for nearly 1,300 receiving yards and 11 TDs, adding another scoring rush during a 13-2 season.
He believes his time with the Big Red helped him reach his goal of playing in D1.
“The weight room, coach Leno (Saccoccia)’s mentality, everything helped.” He said.
He is a candidate for the HSDT All-Area Offensive Player of the Year award, which will be announced on Sunday Edition.
