In a recent interview, Biden detailed his old car and some newer electric vehicles that he has tested and seen firsthand in action.

The car is also one of several owned by the current president, although Biden now drives it less frequently.
In an interview at SiriusXM Holdings Co., Ltd. On the podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” Biden recalled how he acquired the car and why he never sold it.
“My Corvette can go up to 132 miles per hour,” Biden said. Conan O’BrienI thought, remembering the time I drove a car on the Secret Service test track.
The car was a wedding present from Biden’s father, who was a dealership owner. After telling Biden that he would be fixing up Biden’s old car, a 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air, he surprised Biden and his first wife, Neilia Hunter Biden, with a green 1967 Corvette instead.

“I just love cars and I don’t know anything about engines. I don’t know anything about that. I just know how to drive a car and I love cars.”
The Corvette was featured on an episode of “Jay Leno’s Garage,” and Biden received special permission to drive it. Sitting presidents and vice presidents are typically restricted from driving for six months after leaving office.
“I owe you a huge debt,” Biden told Leno on the show. “Do you realize this is the third time in seven years that I’ve driven this?”

Why it’s important: Biden, a car enthusiast, was excited to talk with O’Brien about all things old and new.
Biden, a strong supporter of the transition to electric vehicles, said in an interview that the electric Corvette can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.
