Bears fans may have been more interested in Green Bay vs. Carolina than Packers or Panthers fans. The Bears gave up rooting for the Packers, and their No. 1 overall pick was in jeopardy.
The Packers barely held on and defeated the Panthers 33-30.
Green Bay improved to 7-8, but Carolina fell to 2-12.
The Packers led by 14 points in the fourth quarter and needed Anders Karlsson’s 32-yard field goal with 19 seconds left to take the lead. The Panthers hung on as time expired.
Adam Thielen caught a 22-yard pass from Bryce Young to the Green Bay 31, but the Panthers, who were out of timeout, were unable to make the spike before the clock struck zero.
However, the Packers discovered that the Panthers are not the Panthers of a few weeks ago because Young is not the same Young of a few weeks ago.
Young completed two touchdown passes to DJ Chark in the fourth quarter, covering 11 and 10 yards to help the Panthers turn things around. After Chark’s first touchdown, Eddie Pineiro missed the extra point and a Panthers holding penalty nullified a successful two-point conversion. But the Panthers tied the game on Raheem Blackshear’s two-point play following Chark’s second touchdown with 4:05 remaining.
Young completed 23 of 35 for 312 yards and two touchdowns, Chark had six catches for 98 yards and Thielen had six catches for 94 yards.
The Panthers defeated the Packers 394-369.
Jordan Love was 17-of-28 for 219 yards and two touchdowns, and Aaron Jones had a season-high 127 rushing yards on 21 carries. Romeo Dubs and Dontaevion Wicks each had touchdown grabs, and AJ Dillon had a run for the score. Love also scored a rushing touchdown.
