The Pennsylvania Football News Coaches Select All-State team small school classification was released Thursday.
Hunter Smith, Altoona Miller’s player of the year, was the only player from Miller’s core coverage area to make it to the Class 3A first team, and after leading the scoring by a wide margin in the area, fullback joined the team as
Central teammates Jack Dunn (WR) and Eli Massler (safety) were named to the second team, along with Tyrone’s Braden Ewing (DT) and Penn Cambria’s Derek Hite (OLB).
Clearfield’s Carter Freeland was selected as a 3A first-team defensive player.
The 2A team had the most local selections.
Guilfoyle Catholic Bishop Carter Sheehan will play football as a preferred walk-on for Temple, joining the first team as a center and Bellwood Antti, who often worked with punter Josh Dorminy on his team Recruited players to the first team. long snapper Chance Schreier;
Sheehan’s teammate, Kayden Wyandot, joined the second team as an outside linebacker.
Four Bald Eagle area players, Carson Nagle (QB), Kaheil Burns (slot/HB), Camron Watkins (WR) and Alex Lefebvre (DE), were also selected to the first team. BEA’s Eric Clark also made the second team at defensive end.
Richland’s Evan McCracken made the 2A first team as an offensive player, while teammate Austin Yarnick made the second team as a wide receiver.
In Class 1A, Northern Bedford was represented by Aidan Pittman, a first-team kick/punt returner, and Aaron Bowers, a second-team wide receiver.
Northern Cambria’s Ty Dam (safety) and Dawson Shutty (DT) were also selected to the first team, and Moshannon Valley’s Sam Shipley also played as a middle linebacker.
At least 35 coaches in each class voted, and more than 200 coaches overall voted, according to PFN owner Billy Splane. Teams from Classes 4A through 6A will be announced today.
