The Los Angeles Sparks hired former WNBA player Regan Pebley as general manager on Friday, replacing Karen Bryant, who will focus solely on the team’s business operations.
Bryant served as general manager and chief administrative officer last season.
Pebley played in the league from 1997 to 1998. She served as a television analyst for the Dallas Wings from 2016 to 2023, and she served on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Board of Directors from 2018 to 2023.
“The Sparks’ tradition and legacy has played an important role in the current trajectory and growth of women’s sports,” Pebley said in a statement. “I will work with our players, front office, coaching staff and community to create a culture where our players are brave enough to pursue their best selves and provide them with all the tools they need as they compete for a WNBA Championship. I want to continue nurturing it.”
The 48-year-old Fountain Valley, Calif., native resigned as TCU women’s basketball coach in March. She had two years left on her contract.
Pebley led the Horned Frogs to four WNIT appearances and three 20-win seasons, most recently in 2019-20. In her final three seasons, her team continued to lose.
She comes to TCU after coaching at Utah State and Fresno State.
Pebley played at Colorado, was drafted 21st overall by the Utah Stars in 1997, and played for the Cleveland Rockers in 1998.
“Reagan is an extraordinary leader and culture builder,” said Sparks Managing Partner Eric Holloman. “She has deep knowledge of the women’s basketball world and brings her expertise in player development, talent evaluation, analysis and organizational leadership.”
The Sparks hold the No. 2 and No. 12 overall picks in this year’s WNBA Draft.
