SUNNYVALE — The real estate giant that once partnered with Google’s development ally has decided to cut dozens of jobs in the Bay Area. This is yet another evidence of the region’s ongoing real estate downturn.
Lendlease has announced plans to cut 57 jobs in the Bay Area, according to an official notice filed with the state Employment Development Department.
The layoffs will affect 56 workers in Sunnyvale and one worker in San Francisco. Lendlease also announced it would close its San Francisco office, according to the WARN notice.
The warning letter states that Lendlease’s job cuts are expected to take effect on Friday.
In November, Google and Lendlease ended a partnership to develop four large projects in the Bay Area, including a vast transit hub in downtown San Jose, but all four projects will continue, Google said. .
Mountain View-based Google said it continues to work to advance projects, including a downtown San Jose transit village poised to transform the Bay Area’s largest city.
The four projects involved in the now-ended Google-Renlease partnership and their approximate locations are:
— Downtown West. A mixed-use transit village located in downtown San Jose, near Diridon Station and SAP Center.
— Sunnyvale, Moffett Park area.
— Middlefield Park, Mountain View.
— North Bayshore, Mountain View.
