The European Space Agency (ESA) shared a series of images and videos on Instagram showing an incredible sight from deep space. These visuals, taken by the James Webb Space Telescope, show the supernova remnant of a star “shattered like glass.”
“Near-infrared observations of the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A (Cas A) show an extremely violent explosion at a resolution previously unattainable at these wavelengths. This high-resolution look allows us to see the star before it explodes. “We reveal the intricate details of the expanding shell of material when a star collides with a gas vent,” the space agency wrote. The next few lines explain what each image or video shows.
