Teenage darts sensation Luke Littler is set to take the next step in his professional career this month when he is set to play in his first World Series event.
According to Professional Darts Corporation, Littler will be part of the 16-man field at the Bahrain Darts Masters on January 18-19 and the Netherlands Darts Masters on January 26-27. He plans to do so.
The 16-year-old created one of the biggest stories in the history of the sport by reaching the final of the world championships’ biggest tournament at Alexandra Palace last week.
The kebab-loving prodigy lost 7-4 to world No. 1 Luke Humphries, but his run netted him £200,000, almost 100 times the prize money he had earned in previous ranking events.
Despite being broadcast on pay-per-view, the match attracted 4.8 million viewers on Sky Sports, setting a record for a non-football broadcast on the channel.
Littler’s incredible run has already earned him a place on the lucrative Premier League darts circuit, which features eight of the sport’s most famous players and boasts a prize pool of £1 million.
The Warrington pitcher will not be able to promote alcohol or gambling until he turns 18 in January 2025, but he could also become a rising star for certain brands.
He said last week that big stars like David Beckham have reached out to Littler to declare they are fans of “The Nuke” following his record-breaking feat.
