Shanghai (Gasgoo) – On January 7, Hefei Guoxan High-tech Power Energy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Hefei Gotion”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Gotion High-tech, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Chery Automobile. The partnership aims to expand into both passenger and commercial vehicle segments and jointly explore opportunities in the new energy vehicle market.
The partnership under this agreement will cover Chery’s projects including passenger cars, buses, logistics vehicles and heavy trucks. Hefei Gotion will act as the main supplier and actively participate in the development and supply of the project. Chery Automobile will similarly introduce advanced battery technologies such as Gotion High-tech’s third-generation battery cells, and strengthen cooperation in battery platform standardization, cell consistency and safety, and battery big data.

Additionally, the two companies will jointly explore innovative business models in emerging areas such as energy storage and electric ships. By leveraging their respective advantages in the international market, the two companies will work together to expand the overseas new energy vehicle market. Furthermore, we will promote stronger collaboration in ESG (environment, society, and governance) initiatives and carbon reduction, with the aim of improving our brand reputation and market recognition.
The partnership between Gotion High-tech and Chery Automobile dates back to 2012, when they began collaborating on new energy product applications. Notable milestones include bulk shipment of Gotion batteries for Chery’s Karry YoYo in 2018, formal signing of strategic cooperation agreement in 2019, and batteries for Chery’s QQ Ice Cream and other popular models in 2021 One example is the delivery of large quantities of packs. The collaboration has further deepened, and the number of units installed per year has exceeded 130,000, a significant increase of over 220% from the previous year.
Chery has been accelerating its new energy vehicle strategy in recent years. In 2023, his four major passenger car brands under Chery Holding (Chery, EXEED, JETOUR, iCAR) all launched a number of new energy vehicle models into the market. Chery Holding’s international business steadily improved last year, with approximately 937,000 vehicles exported, reflecting a solid 101.1% year-on-year growth.
