NEWPORT, Vermont — Newport Police Department has arrested a suspect in Wednesday’s vehicle theft and is facing related charges, Chief Travis Bingham announced.

On Wednesday, January 17, at approximately 10:45 a.m., a man abandoned his 2017 Jeep Cherokee while he was doing business on East Main Street. She said her car was hijacked by a man named “Jim” and he advised her that he was not in the car.
