River City Classic Club Car Event: A showcase of community spirit and passion for cars.
The River City Classic Club recently hosted an automotive event that brought together drivers from High River, Okotoks, Keiley and Calgary to delight the local community by showcasing their automotive engineering prowess and community spirit. Despite some misfortunes during the event, including vehicle breakdowns, the spirit of camaraderie and resilience endured.
Community support and participation
The success of the event was largely due to community support. Wes Shaw of Shawne Excavating and Trucking, who is also a member of the River City Classic Club, praised the community’s active participation and support in making the event a success. Shawne Excavating made a significant contribution by providing a fence and loader to relocate the town’s concrete blocks. CDI International Trucking was responsible for transporting these blocks under the direction of Roger Hammel.
Registration and safety check
High River NAPA, managed by Darcy, played a key role in the registration process, ensuring all vehicles had the necessary insurance and registration. Local mechanics, including one from Sean’s shop, came forward to perform safety inspections on the participating vehicles. Vehicles that passed strict safety standards were assigned a number and the event was given a green light.
Charitable aspects of the event
This event was about more than just a passion for cars. His 2024 Steeda Charity Car Show, held as part of the event, attracted nearly 400 cars and he raised $2,000 for local nonprofits. Participants and spectators experienced a variety of activities including drag racing, facility tours, and a police escort to South Georgia Motorsports Park. The event combined a love of cars with a spirit of giving back and highlighted the community’s efforts to make a positive impact.
