manama: Five members of Bahraini’s parliament recently submitted a proposal to the government to change the country’s two-day weekend to three.
The proposal aims to improve workers’ quality of life and the balance between their personal and professional lives.
According to reports, Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam submitted a proposal to the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee for consideration to declare weekend holidays on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. bahrain news

Currently, weekends in this country are Friday and Saturday.
“Given the developments the world is facing in all sectors… there is an urgent need to keep pace with the world’s progress, including in the global economic system,” Al-Alaywi said in the proposal’s explanation.
“But Bahrain is a Muslim country and has its own customs and traditions on Fridays.” [and] This makes it difficult to accept working on this day, even for a few hours. ”
“A three-day weekend promotes work-life balance, strengthens family bonds, increases productivity and promotes quality work,” he added.
Al-Alaywi suggested that the system could boost tourism in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries by encouraging weekend travel, thereby increasing economic support to countries in the region.
