Yokohama, Japan Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announced that it will exhibit customized vehicles created by students at Nissan Automobile College at Tokyo Auto Salon 2024.
Nissan Automobile College is a member of the Nissan Group and has five campuses across the country. In addition to the common curriculum for obtaining national qualifications for automobile maintenance, we also offer automobile engineering courses such as motor sports and bodywork.
The three customized vehicles on display represent the culmination of student efforts at the Aichi and Kyoto campuses, where students can take bodywork courses.
Exhibition overview
Elgrand Grassier – Nissan Automobile College Kyoto
Mechanic & Customization Course (for 4th year students, production period: 6 months)
It was created with the concept of “connecting people” and the image of a family of six riding together. This vehicle aims to create a space where the whole family can enjoy camping, deepen bonds, and be filled with smiles and laughter.
In consideration of driving on rough roads, the ground clearance has been increased by 4 centimeters compared to the base model, and a large tent has been installed on the roof to ensure the safety and comfort of the entire family.
The X-Trail’s face incorporates an off-road atmosphere, and the rear is stylishly finished with modern straight tail lamps that give it a student-like feel.
The unique body color was chosen by students to evoke the light of dawn. The elegant green color reminiscent of the light of dawn is accented with an orange lip spoiler, side steps, and interior that express the morning light shining above the clouds.
Seto – Nissan Automobile College Kyoto
Mechanic & Customization Course (for 4th year students, production period: 6 months)
Based on the concept of “a bridge between the past and the present,” students created a unique and cute “Pike Car.” As a user, I imagined a daughter or younger sister of Elgrand’s Glacier family enjoying a stylish cafe or going out on the town at night.
The Cube forms the basis of the exterior with a Bluebird front fascia and taillights. To create a natural connection between the two vehicles’ fenders and hoods, students used a combination of welding and putty modeling to create a smooth, harmonious finish. The headlights use LEDs instead of halogen bulbs to create a modern atmosphere. A roof box is installed for spontaneous road trips with friends. The students devised light navy as the body color, imagining friends enjoying the nightlife as the blue of dusk fades into the pitch black night.
Adonis Skyline – Nissan Automobile College Aichi Prefecture
Mechanic & Auto Body Master Course (for 3rd year students, production period 2.5 months)
The concept of this vehicle is “A vehicle like Adonis that everyone will fall in love with”. This car is designed to be used daily by the target group of young people who have high incomes and enjoy a good amount of private life. While inheriting the elegant lines of the base model Skyline, the body has been made 5 centimeters wider to create an imposing form. During the creative process, considerable time and effort was spent adjusting and modifying the body lines to avoid distortion. In the interior, the dashboard panel surface has been changed to create a more calm atmosphere.
The refreshing tone of the original color “Adonis White” was created by students.
