Dodge and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) teams continue to find innovative ways to design and develop vehicles for the declining sedan and SUV consumer market. Because of this, the Dodge Hornet nameplate was removed from the archives and re-released as Dodge’s way of exploring a realistic price market. His entry-level, ready-to-ride 2024 Dodge Hornet resembles his 1977 AMC version. Below standard. The Dodge Dart-like curves give it the feel of a sedan, but the Hornet is a compact SUV, and the interior matches the height and feel of a sedan. In competition with the Honda HR-V, Alfa Romeo Tonale, Mazda CX-30 and Hyundai Kona, this category is already bulging at the seams with winners, but why is the release of the Hornet in this category and why others I’m having a hard time understanding why it wasn’t a category. The need for new blood.
While FCA certainly deserves praise for exploring this opportunity while remaining the world’s seventh-largest car manufacturer, there are probably some oversights as well. Although the Hornet’s frame and components are shared with the Alfa Romeo Tonale, the Hornet is certainly a less sporty, commuter-oriented version. Eyes wrapped in Blue Bayou paint are all over the black badge, with as many exterior aesthetics as possible to ensure the Hornet is appealing to look at. Our GT Plus AWD tester was powered by his 2.0 I4 DOHC Hurricane 4 engine with ESS, making 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The Hornet wasn’t at all lazy to get up and go, but there was an increase in road noise from the front row seats.
At Grasso’s Garage, honesty is our top priority and we make sure our readers understand every aspect of the vehicles we review. Whether you’re in the market for a new car or not, we strive to make sure you have all the facts, and sometimes the hard truth, about a product. FCA has done a great job of releasing vehicles to the market that pack a lot of punch in the Challenger, Charger, and SRT, while the rich options and superior comfort of the Challenger, Charger, and SRT have always been their strengths. Ta. Although the Hornet boasts several awards, it’s easy to see that FCA is prioritizing price over product, which could threaten sales. The Hornet’s basicness makes it a good option for a compact cruiser in this price category, but keep in mind that there are many options out there that are worth a test drive.
