The Nigeria-Korea Friendship Vocational and Technical Institute (NKFI), located in Lokoja, Kogi State, has secured full accreditation of five programs submitted to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The Rector of the institute, Williams Charles Oluwatoyin, confirmed this at a press conference in Lokoja on Monday.
Programs approved to run the National Innovative Diploma (NID) include Computer Software Engineering, Welding and Manufacturing, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Automotive Mechatronics Engineering, Networking and Systems Security, with effect from January 2024.
He assured prospective students and parents that this recognition has opened a new dawn in the production of skilled and globally competitive graduates.
He said that under his leadership, the University will raise the bar for academic excellence, accelerate the realization of its mission and vision, and emerge as a globally respected and competitive vocational and technical learning institution. He said that he continues to have a strong interest in this.
He expressed gratitude to the Immediate Past Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Alhaji Yahaya Adosa Bello, for his continued interest in education which has benefited NKFI.
He also thanked the institute’s partner KOICA for its dedication and support.
The Chancellor said that apart from the full accreditation of the course, the Secretary to the Government Dr. Shaib Oricha had approved scholarships to 30 individuals to study for various programs at the institute.
He called on public-spirited Nigerians to follow Dr. Oricha’s example and invest in the young generation for the collective benefit of the nation.
Similarly, the Rector also announced the opening of the NKFI Automotive Workshop, which will be available to the public as a service station for servicing their vehicles.
He said the services provided will cost money, but people should rest assured that they will be discounted.
“The public is assured of a first-class service as we have a large number of internationally trained professionals and equipment to ensure your vehicle receives the best possible care. ” he assured.
He appealed to the public to visit the strategically located motor vehicle service station within Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, with easy access along the Felere Expressway.
The Chancellor congratulates the new Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on his successful installation and smooth transition of power, while under the unity government, the governor will continue in the footsteps of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya.
