A motor vehicle checkpoint between Njanković and Marković will be opened on the border with Poland within the next six months. This was announced by the Chief Executive of the State Administration of the Lviv Region. Maxim Kozytsky.
Mr. Kozicki, together with Teresa Kubas-Gul, the newly appointed head of Poland’s Podkarpackie Voivodeship, inspected the progress of work on the future checkpoint, where a construction capsule was installed in September 2021. The facility is currently in its final stages.
The next stage of the project could be the installation of pedestrian checkpoints, Kubas Gul said.
In addition, the Lviv Regional State Administration has already sent a proposal to the Ministry of Regional Development to supplement the agreement on the establishment of the Nizhankovychy-Markovichy international road border crossing with a rail connection. Podkarpackie Voivodeship has also sent a similar complaint to the Polish Ministry.
It is also proposed to carry out regulatory procedures at the Njanković-Markovici railway crossing jointly with the Polish regulatory authorities based on the principles of the Smirnytsia railway crossing.
Mr. Kozytskiy added that the tracks in the sections between Sambir and Kiriv and between the interstate border and Staryava-Kirivu-Nizhankoviyi and interstate border have been completely redeveloped for international passenger and freight rail transport.
