So far, neither the Phillies nor the Eagles have lost in October. Philadelphia sports fans are known for their fierce loyalty and grit. But what’s behind the Philadelphia faithful?
Dr. Joel Fish, a sports psychologist in Philadelphia, said it’s built into the fabric of the city.
“It’s central to our identity,” Fish said.
According to Dr. Fish, it’s a loyalty that is passed down from generation to generation.
“We have people in Philadelphia who have been watching the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, Flyers for three or four generations, and we have grandparents who are passing it on from their children to their grandchildren,” Dr. Fish said.
And then those generations came along and wreaked havoc on opposing teams at Citizens Bank Park, one of the toughest ballparks for opposing players in Major League Baseball.

“Philadelphia’s home field advantage is important, especially in a playoff game,” Dr. Fisch said.
This is important because Philadelphia wasn’t always a winner.
“I think the fact that there’s a lack of opportunity and championships makes Philadelphia even more unique. Why? Because it makes hunger even more unique,” Dr. Fish said. Ta.
Unlike other major sports markets such as New York and Chicago, Philadelphia has been without championship glory for a total of 100 seasons for major sports teams, from the 1983 champion Sixers to the 2008 World Series Phillies .
Dr. Fish said the desire to win fuels the fandom and passion in Philadelphia, especially at home.
“We expect this year’s Citizens Bank crowd, and this year’s Eagles playoff crowd, to be even louder, louder and more intense than last year,” Dr. Fish said.
Game 3 on Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park will be exciting to say the least.
