Alice Springs artist Lynn Weisel opens the doors to a renovated 1930s railway shed and hosts an event that’s part open house and part art show.
The 1300sqm property at 14 Railway Tce is on the market for $860,000 through Gail Tuxworth of LJ Hooker Alice Springs.
The property comes with a three-bedroom character house, a modern one-bedroom studio, a pool, and a functional but non-flush outhouse.
Mr. Wastell’s paintings adorn the walls of the cottage, so Mr. Tuxworth and Mr. Wastell decided to organize an event to showcase both the property and the artwork.
The Open House Soirée and Marty’s Art House Exhibition will be held on Friday, October 13th from 6 to 7 p.m. Marty is Mr. Weisel’s nickname.
“All the art in the cottage is Lynn’s,” Tuxworth said.
“Her work is amazing.
“When I went to have the property appraised, I received two works of art.”
Ms Tuxworth said Ms Wattel had completely transformed the property since purchasing it in 2017.
“When you walk through the original front door, you feel like you’re in another world from a bygone era,” she said.
Tuxworth said talented artists installed a new kitchen and new bathrooms, and painted and upgraded the plumbing and electrical equipment.
She installed a saltwater pool and built a separate residence with a double lock-up garage, self-contained studio, and workshop.
The cottage has wooden floors and air conditioning, a fireplace in the living room and a huge Falcon stove in the kitchen.
The Open Home Soiree and Marty’s Arthouse Exhibition will be held at 14 Railway Tce, Alice Springs on Friday 13th October from 6pm to 7pm.
