As is customary, head coach Nick Sirianni spent a few minutes with the media on Friday ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles’ road game against the New York Jets. He didn’t have a wealth of information, but that didn’t surprise anyone.
Philadelphia released its injury report shortly before 4 p.m., but based on what we’ve seen and heard in the days leading up to the Week 6 contest, there weren’t too many surprises. I finally got a status report.
News travels quickly in Eagles-centered circles. By now, most of you have probably seen Philadelphia’s latest Week 6 injury report/status update, but for those who are still in the minority and haven’t, here’s how things are going. I will explain here how it changes.
The fact that he was mentioned as a full participant in practice and not given a designation appears to indicate that Dean Nakobe will play on Sunday. Philadelphia had a 21-day practice period for him earlier this week. It was then announced that Jalen Carter was absent from Wednesday’s session the following afternoon with an ankle injury.
Darius Slay (knee) and Justin Evans (knee) have not practiced this week. I wouldn’t be surprised if they miss the next game. Carter and wide receiver Quez Watkins (hamstring) will also miss this game.
The good news here is that Marlon Tuipulotu (triceps) and Fletcher Cox (back) are both back on the practice field. Their addition to the lineup in Week 6, if they are playing, will go some way to making up for the loss of Carter.
Fletch played a full game on Friday, but Tuipulotu’s availability for the next game is doubtful. Safety Sidney Brown (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve. Cornerback Bradley Roby has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.
Earlier this week, Philadelphia also announced that punter Braden Mann has been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. Dean is on injured reserve until promoted. Once that happens, someone will need to be released to make room for him.
To fill the scout team space vacated by Mann, the Eagles also announced they have signed LB Brandon Smith to the practice squad. The inactive report will be published 90 minutes before kick-off. We’ll find out Saturday if Dean will be elevated to the 53-man roster again.
