Ryan Briscoe will join the Floyd VanWall Racing Team in place of Joao Paulo de Oliveira for the FIA World Endurance Championship final in Bahrain.
The Australian driver takes his first race lap at the wheel of the No. 4 Vanwall Vandervell 680, sharing the car with Esteban Guerrieri and Tristan Vauthier during the eight-hour race at the Bahrain International Circuit. It will be carved.
De Oliveira, who joined Colin Colles’ team for the Fuji 6 Hours, will not be able to participate in the final race in Bahrain due to conflicting commitments in Japan.
“I’m excited to be joining the team for the final round of the 2023 World Endurance Championship,” Briscoe said.
“I would like to thank Dr. Colin Colles for the opportunity and look forward to my first lap on the Vandervell 680.”
Briscoe will be returning to the WEC grid for the first time since the Le Mans 24 Hours with Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus earlier this year.
This will be his first WEC start without a U.S. national team, as all of his championship appearances since his 2021 debut have been at the wheel of the Glickenhaus 007 Pipo.
“Ryan is an excellent driver with extensive experience in prototype race cars,” said Kolles.
“With Esteban, Tristan and Ryan, we have a strong lineup for the final event of the 2023 FIA WEC season.”
