Family members residing in Bahrain with U.S. military personnel or Department of Defense (Department of Defense) civilians will be eligible to pursue employment in the local economy under Bahraini law while maintaining their status. The policy would allow family members of U.S. military personnel to work under employee-paid work visas without having to waive their Pentagon-dependent visas.
“This is about taking care of our families and continuing to make Bahrain the premier overseas mission base for the U.S. Navy,” said Vice Adm. “With the support of the Bahraini government, our family has a new avenue to work locally if they wish,” said Lt. Col. Jennifer Blake, chief warfighter officer for Bahrain, U.S. 5th Fleet. “This policy allows family members of working age to remain in Bahrain on visas dependent on the Department of Defense.”
