“The EPA does not have the authority to decide what cars Americans can buy with their hard-earned money.” said Senator Tillis.. “This bill counters the Biden administration’s radical environmental policies, protects consumers from government overreach, and fosters American production and innovation.”
in particular, Choice of Automobile Retail Sales Act (CARS) Law:
- Prohibits EPA from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing proposed emissions rules.
- Prohibits the use of authority under the Clean Air Act to enact regulations that mandate the use of certain technologies or limit the availability of new vehicles based on engine type. Includes regulations established after January 1, 2021.
- Requires the EPA to update regulations effective January 1, 2021, which will limit the availability of new vehicles based on that vehicle’s engine within two years.
- End the EPA’s radical policies that drive up costs for the public and hand over the keys to America’s auto industry to China.
