Catholic Community Awali (Agenzia Fides) – Grace Omit was one of the many young people who took part in the National Youth Day held at the Awali Cathedral on Friday, December 8, 2023, among the participants. Some also talked about their experiences at the world championships. Youth Day to be held in Lisbon from August 1 to 6, 2023 (see Fides, July 25, 2023).
“God always comes first in my life. And because I love God, I love serving the community and helping and serving others, especially the less fortunate.” Young Participant said in an interview with Fidesz. “I trust God at every stage of my life, and I always trust God. In every decision I make, I understand that it is God’s will. I enjoy seeking guidance and living by faith. If we always put God first, He will bless us more than we deserve.”
Born and raised in Inabanga, Bohol, Philippines, Grace came to Bahrain in 2018 and has been working as a Senior International Executive Director and Coordinator for the Engineering and Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) for over five years. “I grew up in a simple, normal, peaceful household,” she says. “We had no problem practicing our religion. My mother was always a devoted servant of Christ. She taught us to love God, pray, and serve God and our community. We grew up watching our mother involved in the Legion of Mary. “From her we learned the virtues of the Mother of Jesus as an example of a woman, a wife, a mother. , taught me to always keep God at the center of my life and pray no matter where life takes me.”
“In the Philippines, I served as president of Student Catholic Action, which advocates evangelizing oneself before evangelizing others. The spiritual formation I received shaped my character, vision, and outlook on life. After graduating, I enrolled in the training course of Singles for Christ (SFC), a ministry that supports single men and women at the crossroads of choosing between marriage, ordination, and religious vocation. It’s an activity. ”
“The Catholic community here in Valhain has helped me know more and more about what I really want and my calling. I grew up watching my mother serve in church and in the community. .And wherever I go, I always carry my beliefs with me.” “I have a passion for serving God, even in the simplest of ways.” I belong to the group, SFC, St. Mary’s Legion, Hymnos Choir, English and Filipino instructors.I find joy and peace in everything.”I do, and most of all in life with God. I found it by living. ”
Grace acknowledged that her family was completely devoted to the Lord, even when her late father was diagnosed with a terminal illness. “God has blessed us and been with us through the most difficult times. Our Father knows what is best for us. His way is not our way. My Father knows what is best for us. We are never alone. God is wise and makes no mistakes. So if you don’t understand.” If you don’t understand His plan, trust His heart. And I live my faith by trusting in His heart. ”
Grace is a graduate of BIT International College. She completed her Master’s degree in International Business Management at the Swiss Business School in Switzerland and is currently studying her Master’s degree with a focus on Oil and Gas Management at the Ascensia Business School in Paris.
Bahrain is a Muslim-majority country, but all religions are practiced freely there. Immigrants from India, the Philippines, and Pakistan live here, and around 80,000 have found welcome refuge in the Catholic Church. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, December 19, 2023)
