Manama (Agenzia Fides) – “We are one people of God, one family, we come from different countries with different languages, cultures and traditions, but we are all united in the faith of Jesus Christ. We are brothers and sisters,” said the parish priest emphatically Father Francis Padabuprakal Joseph of Sacred Heart Church in Manama, OFM cap, speaking about the preparations for the upcoming Family Day to be celebrated in the parish. “This Family Day is an opportunity for us to feel that we are all one family in Christ. We are expecting 4,000 to 5,000 people from different communities to attend,” the Capuchin priest added.
Inspired by the motto “Reaching out in hope, branching out together,” the event brings together the large and diverse Catholic community of the diocese, which is part of the Apostolic Vicariate of North Arabia. It begins with a Solemn Mass and will run until February 9th.
The memo sent to Fidesz says this community-centered event promises to bring together family, friends, and believers in a joyful celebration of unity, love, and faith. “Let us unite to prosper together, to love one another and to rejoice and celebrate our unity in the one Lord and patron of Our Lady of Arabia,” said Bishop O.S.T. Aldo Berardi, Vicar of the Bishop of Northern Arabia. added.
A variety of activities will be held on the church grounds throughout the day, including cultural and musical performances and games, starting at 8am. This special celebration is meant to express the power of family, faith, and community.
Sacred Heart Church was the first church built in Bahrain, where the first Christian community gathered in 1938. On June 9, 1939, the foundation stone was laid on land provided by Shaikh Haman bin Isa Al Khalifa, then ruler of Bahrain. It was officially dedicated on March 3, 1940.
