The three-day festival, Bahrain Animal Production Show-Maraih 2023, held at the Bahrain International Endurance Village concluded with great success yesterday with an enlightening agricultural exhibition.
Over the weekend, tourists flocked to see the diverse range of local animals on display.
Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Rural Affairs and Agriculture, emphasized that the success of Marai 2023 was greatly boosted by the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
He praised the royal directive aimed at developing programs to strengthen the kingdom’s efforts to achieve higher food security rates.
Underscoring the alignment of the program with government policies led by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Al Mubarak, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, strengthening the Kingdom’s leadership position and improving food security. emphasized the role of the program in addressing the above concerns.
He stressed that Mala’i served as an important trading platform in the areas of livestock and agricultural production, cementing Saudi Arabia’s position in specialized exhibitions.
Mr. Al Mubarak pledged that the Ministry of Local Government and Agriculture will continue to support private sector participation in the livestock and agriculture sector.
He noted that Mara’ee 6 represented a qualitative leap compared to its predecessor, introducing rare purebreds from around the world.
Thousands of students visited Mara’ee 2023, attracted by the fun activities and competitions.
For the first time, internationally registered regional animal breeds and poultry were exhibited at this exhibition.
An integral part of the show, the exhibition showcased a wide variety of plants and home hydroponic systems, and attracted more than 10,000 visitors yesterday.
On the sidelines of the expo, Dr. Abdelmougoud Ragab, agricultural consultant at the Ministry of Agriculture and Municipal Engineering, spoke to the Daily Tribune about the purpose of the expo.
He stressed, “Our main goal is to raise awareness about new farming systems that are best suited to Bahrain’s environmental conditions.”
Dr. Raghav elaborates: “We are implementing a variety of soil technologies that optimize water and fertilizer use.
Additionally, we have established a plant factory that uses artificial light and renewable resources such as solar energy to power the system. ”
He also highlighted the exhibition’s focus on promoting small-scale systems for home gardening and indoor production.
These systems are designed to help you grow leafy greens effortlessly and boast impressive plant growth rates of 20% compared to traditional growing methods.
In addition to showcasing cutting-edge agricultural practices, the exhibition aimed to educate attendees about tissue culture techniques for propagating fruit pulp and organic flowers.
Dr. Raghav expressed the organizers’ commitment to imparting valuable knowledge about these innovative cultivation methods to the public.
The Agricultural Issues Exhibition at the Bahrain Animal Production Show served as a platform to exchange ideas and explore sustainable agricultural solutions.
By focusing on resource efficiency and introducing new technologies, the exhibition left an unforgettable impression on visitors and paved the way for a greener and more productive future in Bahrain’s agricultural sector.
