Bahrain-based karting sensation Lewis Smith will make history in the sport next week when he becomes the first Saudi athlete to compete in the E20 senior category at the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF).
The event is one of the world’s largest karting competitions held annually, and Lewis is one of around 400 competitors from around the world who take to the track at the Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC).
Sponsored by Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) and specialist aviation GSE provider European Airline Solutions (EAS), Lewis will fly to the Kingdom during the race week in Sakhir from December 2nd to 9th. We carry out activities under the national flag.
The Brit has carried out valuable testing in Germany in recent weeks as he prepares for the RMCGF, where he completed over 200 laps in his E20 kart. Lewis now hopes to use his experience to deliver strong performances against the world’s best karting opponents.
“I’m excited to be representing Bahrain again on the biggest stage in karting,” said Lewis. “The Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Final is one of the most prestigious events at the grassroots level in motorsport and it is an honor and a valuable experience to compete against so many of the most talented karting athletes at my home track. I don’t take it for granted.”
This will be Lewis’ second time competing in the RMCGF. He last competed in the tournament in 2021 in Bahrain, where he showed his potential in the Senior MAX category. “I learned a lot that year and I’m confident I can take another big step forward,” Lewis said.
“I have been practicing hard over the past few weeks to be in the best possible preparation for the Grand Final.Apart from the tests in Germany, I am also competing in the local championships at BIKC, which will be It’s a good warm-up for upcoming Rotax events.

Lewis has been honing his karting skills at BIKC since he was a child. He is now a regular at national, regional and international championships and continues to excel at all levels.
