The Kingdom of Bahrain continues to ramp up preparations for the inaugural Manama Masters, part of this year’s FIBA 3×3 World Tour.
The prestigious basketball event is scheduled to be held on November 16th and 17th at a specially constructed venue in Bahrain Financial Harbor (BFH), in front of a large number of participants from all over the world.
His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Vice-President and Supreme Organizing Committee Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), visited the competition venues yesterday.
A dedicated 3×3 basketball court has been set up along with a grandstand and a series of facilities and tents offering a full range of logistics services, sales booths and amenities.
His Highness Sheikh Isa was joined by General Sports Authority (GSA) CEO Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, BOC Secretary General Faris Al Kouheji, Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) President Walid Al Alawi, and basketball’s international governing body FIBA. A large number of representatives and related parties accompanied the meeting. , BBA, corporate sponsors, and media.
The Manama Masters will be an entertaining basketball extravaganza that will strengthen Bahrain’s position as a major tourist destination in the region.
This will be the Kingdom of Bahrain’s first appearance on the FIBA 3×3 World Tour and will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice-Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the GSA and Secretary of the BOC. . .
This inaugural event will be Kingdom’s first event for the next three years on the FIBA 3×3 World Tour.
The series’ 2023 calendars began production in April in Japan and in other destinations around the world throughout the year. Bahrain will be the fourth stop on the World Tour in the GCC, after Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar.
Bahrain will be represented by two teams in this event: the men’s team Al Rifa and the women’s team Al Manama.
Al Rifa’s men’s team is made up of national team star Mustafa Hussein and three professionals: Nemanja Draskovic, Milan Skundrić and Anje Sreboft.
The Almanama women’s team is made up of two professional athletes: Hessa Al Jaber and Marian Samir, as well as Julia Jolitsma and Lois Bettenville.
Both teams will be coached by the experienced coach Abdul Kareem Al-Anzour, who has previously led the national team in various international events of this type.
This event is open to all citizens, residents, and communities. Last September, BOC signed an agreement with FIBA to host the FIBA 3×3 World Tour.
His Highness Sheikh Isa signed the agreement with Ignacio Soriano, FIBA Chairman of Events and Partnerships 3×3.
