Bahrain’s senior men’s national basketball team will today announce its opponents for the FIBA Olympic Qualification Tournament for next year’s Paris Olympics.
The Bahrain national team is one of 24 leading basketball teams from around the world participating in the qualifying tournament.
The lottery is scheduled to take place today, and four tournaments will be decided, with six countries each.
The winners of each competition will qualify for the Paris Olympics, joining hosts France, as well as Germany, Serbia, Japan, Australia, Canada, the United States and South Africa, who have booked a spot in this year’s FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. Sudan.
They will form a field of 12 people aiming for gold at the Olympics.
Bahrain are in pot six of the draw along with Egypt, Bahamas and Cameroon.
Pot 1 includes Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia. Pot 2 features Brazil, Italy, Greece and Poland.
Pot 3 consists of Puerto Rico, Montenegro, Dominican Republic, and Finland.
Pot 4 features New Zealand, Georgia, Mexico and Lebanon. Meanwhile, Pot 5 includes Croatia, Ivory Coast, Angola and the Philippines.
Each qualifying tournament will be hosted by one of the participating federations.
Bahrain will make its historic first appearance in the FIBA Olympic Qualification Tournament.
They won five games by a landslide in the Asian Qualifiers held in Damascus, Syria in August last year, earning them a spot in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
