Bahraini athletes experienced a gold rush at the AJP Tour Abu Dhabi World Masters Jiu-Jitsu Championships 2023 held in the UAE capital, winning five different titles and a sixth with a bronze medal.
Dr. Ahmed Al Aradi (42 years old) and Mr. Bader Jamal Aldoseri (40 years old) from Rezaz Martial Arts Center (RMAC) won gold medals in the Master 3 120kg category and Master 2 Brown Belt 69kg category respectively. .
Meanwhile, Elements Jiu-Jitsu Academy teammates Ali Monfaradi (30), Emma Janahi (48), and Monfaradi’s father Sheena all defeated their opponents to take home the gold medal.
Monfarady won the Master 1, black belt, 77kg weight class, while his father won the Master 4, black belt, 62kg weight class.
Janahi, a mother of three, fought her way to victory in the Master 1, Blue Belt, 48kg category, while 18-year-old Abdullah Al-Shaikh won bronze in the Adult Blue Belt, 56kg category.
“I’m very happy to have won the gold medal at the world championships,” Al Aradi told GDN over the phone from Abu Dhabi.
“This is the result of hard work and daily training that allowed me to give my all in this big championship.
“I would like to thank my coaches, Professor Reza, Professor Robert, and my teammates in the gym, because without their support I would not be here.”
Aldoceri told GDN in a separate phone call from Abu Dhabi that the World Championship victory propelled him to the number one ranking in the world in that category.
“This year I did well, winning big competitions and am now world champion in my category!” he said.
“And thanks to this victory, I became the top-ranked player in that category!”
Monfarady, who has won more than 200 medals in various competitions around the world since earning his black belt in 2017, told GDN from Abu Dhabi that his division is the most competitive in the tournament. He said it is one of the.

“This is also my first year as a Master, and although there have been some ups and downs, this World Championship has been something that myself and our entire team have been working on all year.
“And I did it! What’s even better is that my dad also won a gold medal on the same day, so it’s a double celebration.”
