When a woman decided to marry herself, she organized a very special and unusual celebration with her friends and family. The British woman decided to stop waiting for her “suitable partner” and married herself.She also has her 10,000 pounds (almost INRShe saved $1 million, which she has been saving for the past 20 years, for the celebration.
Sarah Wilkinson, 42, hosted the wedding at Harvest House in Felixstowe, Suffolk, the BBC reports. She celebrated by making 14 vows to herself in front of 40 of her closest family and friends.
As for how those close to her reacted to her decision, Wilkinson said she was not surprised to hear of her “outlandish ideas.” She added: “Everyone was smiling all day and everyone said they had such a great time. Almost everyone said, ‘That’s typical of Sarah.'”
Why did she decide to marry herself?
Wilkinson turned 40 during the pandemic lockdown and decided to gift herself a diamond engagement ring. Since then, she kept thinking about marrying herself instead of waiting for her “Mr. Right”.
“I think you get to a point where you think, ‘I might not get these opportunities with my partner by my side, so why pass up?'” That money was for my wedding. It’s something I’ve set aside and the money is there, so why not spend it on whatever I want to do with it?” she told the BBC.
How did Sarah Wilkinson celebrate her big day?
The bride arrived at the venue wearing a traditional white sequined dress. For the top of the cake, I chose a figurine of the bride kissing a frog. She also walked down her aisle with her mother and completed her marriage ceremony with herself.
Ms Wilkinson said she loved being the center of attention on her big day. “Even though the ceremony wasn’t a formal wedding, it was my wedding day,” she added.
