The Browns made a surprising announcement Wednesday morning.

He will be out for the rest of the year. Not because of his ankle injury he suffered in Baltimore on Sunday, but because of a new injury to his right shoulder.
Here’s the full statement from the Browns: “Deshaun Watson underwent magnetic resonance imaging on Monday due to two injuries sustained on separate plays in the first half of Sunday’s 33-31 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Imaging tests on his left ankle revealed a high ankle sprain. Deshaun also informed medical staff after the game that he felt new discomfort in his right shoulder after being hit by a ball in the first half. An MRI scan of his right shoulder revealed a fracture with the glenoid fossa displaced. Despite finishing the game with a high level of performance, the Browns’ attending physician, James Booth, M.D., and the industry After consultation with Neil El-Atrache, MD, a leading shoulder specialist, it was determined that this injury required immediate surgical repair to avoid further structural damage. He will be placed on injured reserve by the end of the season and is expected to make a full recovery until the start of the 2024 season.
Watson missed multiple games with a shoulder injury, but no structural damage was involved. His latest injury occurred during the team’s biggest win of the season, an upset over the Ravens, who had previously gone 7-2.
On Sunday, the 6-3 Browns will face the 6-3 Steelers.
