CAA Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards – November 13th
Richmond, VA (November 13, 2023) – CAA announced weekly awards for women’s basketball following the opening week of the 2023-24 season. Stony Brook University graduate forward/center Kari Clark was named the CAA Player of the Week, and Delaware State freshman forward Darionna Howard was named the CAA Newcomer of the Week.

Clark averaged 18.5 points per game on 15-of-19 shooting from the floor and 9.0 rebounds per game, leading Stony Brook to a 2-0 week. On Monday, the graduate transfer recorded a double-double in her SeaWolf debut, scoring a career-high 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting and grabbing a team-leading 10 rebounds. Clark added three assists, three steals and one block as Stony Brook defeated Columbia 85-73 in the season opener. On Saturday, she eclipsed her career high in points for the second time in a game with 19 points, 9-of-10 shooting from the floor and eight rebounds in an 81-63 win at Le Moine.
Rookie of the week
Darionna Howard, Delaware
Freshman | Fu | Smithfield, North Carolina/Clayton
Howard recorded a double-double in his collegiate debut, helping the University of Delaware to a season-opening victory over Longwood. The freshman forward had 13 points, shot 62.5 percent from the floor (5-8) and grabbed 12 rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench. Additionally, Howard had three steals and two assists as the Blue Hens defeated the Lancers 81-55.
