The annual camping season, aimed at giving tourists a chance to enjoy winter, has begun in Bahrain’s Sakhir Desert. The season, which began in early November, will run until February 29, 2024, under the auspices of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority. Various organizations offer arts and cultural programs, while families and other groups contribute to the camping season with campfires. The purpose of starting the camping season in Bahrain is to enthusiastically celebrate the arrival of winter after a harsh summer. Sakhir Desert Events provides a safe environment for families and individuals to pitch tents, stay, participate in various celebrations, and prepare and enjoy meals.
This year, an app called Al Junobya, available in both Arabic and English, was introduced for the camping season called Khayyam. Visitors must follow the norms set by the authorities while camping. Campers are only allowed to pitch their tents in designated areas, and all such details can be accessed through the mobile application. Established in 2015, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) focuses on promoting Bahrain’s tourism sector. BTEA organizes programs to attract domestic and international tourists. The objective of the BTEA is to strengthen the contribution of tourism to Bahrain’s economy.
