Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s premier NHL Esports division aims to elevate the gaming scene with the highest North American prize pool ever. A new initiative.
Washington DC – Caps Gaming, an NHL esports pioneer owned by the Washington Capitals and Monumental Sports & Entertainment, today announced plans for the 2023-24 season. These plans include an updated competitive team roster and a series of high-stakes tournaments with larger prize pools than ever before. Already known as one of the first official esports sub-brands of NHL clubs, Caps Gaming is set to once again lead the league in 2024 as the first company to host live LAN events.

With our talented roster of streamers and leading esports We are ready to take advantage of our District E facility and make this season a milestone for NHL esports.”
Heading into the 2023-24 season, Caps Gaming will retain most of its star players from the first year, including Porgs, Cad, Geimer, Desi, and Veinks, while adding new center Buechle. This roster has already proven its strength this year by winning the NHL 24 Islanders IGT 24 OPEN over 88 teams and taking home $2,000 in prize money in November.
The team’s signature competition, the Caps Gaming Showcase, is the prestigious 6v6 EA Sports NHL tournament on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. The total prize pool for this season’s event is $15,000, the largest amount Caps Gaming has ever offered in a single division. The tournament is his eight-week Swiss-style tournament, culminating in a single-elimination tournament for the top 64 players. The 2023 showcase will focus solely on the North American division, with the finals being held at his Caps Gaming home venue. Additionally, the Capitals Club Championship returns to District E in January. This NHL esports tournament will feature his one cross-platform bracket via Xbox Series X/S. Gamers will compete for a chance to win a total of $1,000 in prize money and represent the Capitals in his NHL23 World Championship.
