MUMBAI: Central Railway has achieved the milestone of transporting 100,000 cars by train between April 1 and November 15 this fiscal year.
Shivraj Manaspure, chief spokesperson for CR, said this represents a 36% increase in the number of vehicles compared to the same period last year.
“CR’s commitment to advancing the transportation needs of the automotive industry is reflected in its outstanding performance this year. Business Development Units (BDUs) at both zonal and divisional levels are actively engaged with local industry; “We are offering flexible schemes and increasing interest in rail transport,” he said.
CR loaded a total of 1,01,443 vehicles on 708 rakes and earned a revenue of Rs 120 crore. Comparatively, in the same period last year, he had 74,168 vehicles loaded on his 613 rakes, generating revenue of Rs 94 crore.
“Loading of vehicles for transportation was done at Kalamboli in Mumbai division, Ajni in Nagpur division, Nashik Road in Bhusaval division, Daund and Virad in Solapur division, Khadki, Chinchwad, Miraj and Loni in Pune division,” it said. Manaspure added.
Pune division was at the forefront with 491 rakes and 79,136 vehicles loaded, followed by Bhusaval division with 183 rakes and 18,224 vehicles.
