ARLINGTON, Texas — Eagles star tight end Dallas Goedert is officially in action for Sunday Night Football against the Cowboys.
Goedert, 28, has missed the last three games with a broken forearm that required surgery. He suffered the injury before the bye week against the Cowboys and did not appear on IR. He is scheduled to return against the Cowboys and should add momentum to the Eagles’ offense in the passing and run games.
All 53 players on the Eagles’ roster were healthy and expected to participate and play this weekend. That includes Goedert and cornerback Darius Slay, who sat out the first two days of the week with a “rested player/knee” designation.
The Eagles’ inactive members for this game are:
QB Tanner McKee
RB Rashard Penny
OL Sua Opera
DT Moro Ojomo
TE Albert Okwuegbunam
Like last week, the Eagles did not promote any players from the practice squad for this game. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles make up for the loss of Christian Ellis on special teams. Ellis has played more special teams snaps than any other Eagle this season. However, the Eagles placed Ellis on waivers earlier this week and were unable to place him on waivers to the practice squad. He was claimed by the Patriots.
The Eagles waived Ellis to make room for Shaq Leonard on the roster. Shaq Leonard will make his Eagles debut wearing No. 53 on Sunday. The former All-Pro is expected to be part of the linebacker rotation along with Zach Cunningham (returning from a hamstring injury) and Nicholas Morrow.
The Eagles (10-2) have lost their last five games at AT&T Stadium and haven’t beaten the Cowboys since 2011. But after an embarrassing loss at home to the 49ers, they have a chance to win a big game on Sunday.
With Sunday’s win, the Eagles also have a chance to clinch a playoff spot in four ways.
1. Eagles win + Seattle lose or tie
2. Eagles win + Rams lose or tie
3. Eagles win + Packers lose or tie + Vikings lose or tie
4. Eagles win + Packers lose or tie + Lions lose or tie
