UAE:- The General Authority for Sports has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the General Authority for Sports of the Kingdom of Bahrain to exchange expertise and develop the sports sector in both countries.
This memorandum was signed in Abu Dhabi in the respectful presence of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Farasi, Minister of Education and Director General of the General Authority for Sports, and His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice-President of the Supreme Council of Bahrain. It also includes organizing cooperative efforts in the fields of women’s sport, sport for determined people, community sport, Paralympic sport, sports medicine, sports tourism and anti-doping.
His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falashi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the General Authority for Sports, said: “The UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain enjoy strong and long-standing relations across a variety of sectors. This MoU demonstrates the desire of our two brotherly nations to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of areas. This includes supporting sports talent, developing the sports sector, sharing knowledge and experience to improve athletic potential and performance, and increasing opportunities for athletes to succeed.”
His Excellency added: “Through this cooperation, we look forward to strengthening our common vision and laying the foundations for a sustainable foundation for productive cooperation and partnership between the many sports institutions of our two countries. We believe that this MoU will be a catalyst for further innovation and growth in the sports industry as it will contribute to enhancing the talent of our athletes, preparing them for numerous competitions and helping them succeed at regional, national and international levels. His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that this MoU not only strengthens the strong ties and fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UAE, but also aims to strengthen the relationship between both countries towards the development of various fields, especially the field of sports. This MoU aims to foster cooperation between stakeholders in the regional and international sports field. Within this framework, we seek to learn best practices in the development of sports programs and initiatives in mutual cooperation with competent organizations from both countries. Additionally, we will identify new sports talent and explore possibilities for cooperation in training science, athlete preparation and training of sports personnel. This will increase the presence of both countries in sports, especially in individual competitions, which feature talented athletes.
Through this agreement, the sports authorities of both countries aim to exchange programs between sports institutions and federations, cooperate in the maintenance of stadiums and facilities, as well as cooperate in the field of training science and player development programs. Additionally, the parties also seek to share ideas, expertise and knowledge regarding youth training centers as a way to discover sporting talent and increase the profile of athletes from both countries.
The agreement comes as part of the Directorate General of Sports’ efforts to deepen collaboration and cooperation with sports organizations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and other countries around the world.
