The Dallas Cowboys enjoyed an early Thanksgiving feast with a commanding 45-10 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was 22-of-32 for 331 yards and four touchdowns, and with six minutes left in the game, he and offensive lineman Zach Martin threw turkey legs on the sideline. They were also seen eating.
NFL history also tells us that Cowboys defensive back Daron Brand intercepted Commanders quarterback Sam Howell at the far side line with 4:49 left in the game and stole the ball for his fifth “pick-six.” It is also created when a defensive player makes an interception. He returned the ball for a touchdown, setting an NFL single-season record with six weeks left in the season.
“We still have a lot of games left, so who knows how far he’ll extend this record,” Prescott said, according to ESPN.
“As I said when you first asked me about this player, he is a great player. He will prepare and do everything the right way.
“I can’t say I’m surprised he’s getting the ball the way he is, but it’s incredible to see him go score touchdowns and be so hungry to get into the end zone. I’m so proud of him.”
Brand added: “Especially on this day. There’s one more thing to be thankful for.”
But it was country music legend Dolly Parton who stole the show at Thanksgiving. Social media was ablaze when she performed at the Salvation Army’s 27th Annual Red Her Kettle Kick Off Her Halftime Show.
The 77-year-old wore a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader costume and performed some of her biggest hits, including “Jolene” and “9 to 5.”
In addition to fans on social media, former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was clearly impressed by Parton’s halftime show on CBS.
“She’s amazing, isn’t she? She’s amazing. Who doesn’t like Dolly Parton?” he said.
Broadcaster Jim Nantz responded, “She’s definitely an American treasure, that’s for sure.”
Elsewhere on Thanksgiving, the Green Bay Packers opened up “Turkey Day” with a 29-22 win over the Detroit Lions in the Motor City, and the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 31-13. I broke it.
