It just looked like a tough run. But apparently it was too rough.
Eagles running back D’Andre Swift was fined $9,857 for unnecessary misconduct late in the fourth quarter of last Sunday’s game against the Commanders.
The play in question occurred at the 2:13 mark of the fourth quarter. During the play, Swift ran over Commander’s safety Percy Butler. There was no flag on the play.
It’s pretty crazy that a running back can get fined for scoring against a guy who’s trying to hit him.
Two plays later, Swift completed a sweep with a fake Brotherly Shove into the end zone, putting the Eagles up by two touchdowns and eventually winning 38-31 to make it 7-1.
This is the second time this season the Eagles have had an offensive player fined for unnecessary roughness at the end of a run.
Goedert has since appealed the fine from Week 5 and is awaiting sentencing.
