The Eagles practiced Friday morning at the NovaCare Complex in preparation for their Week 6 game against the Jets, but were without Jalen Carter, Darius Slay and Justin Evans.
Carter missed practice for the second straight day, while Slay and Evans have been absent all week. Sunday availability is not a good sign.
Carter, a 22-year-old phenom rookie, injured his ankle during Wednesday’s practice and missed the final two practices of the week.
“We’ll let you know what happens this week and his status,” head coach Nick Sirianni said before practice. “But I don’t think that’s going to keep him away for long.”
Meanwhile, Slay (knee) and Evans (knee) missed practice all week after appearing in all 56 games against the Rams on Sunday in Los Angeles. Slay is the only member of the secondary to start every game this year.
But like Carter’s injury, Slay’s injury doesn’t appear to be long-term.
“If he has to be out this week, I don’t expect it to be for an extended period of time,” Sirianni said.
All four Eagles players who were limited Thursday – Sidney Brown (hamstring), Nakobe Dean (foot), Jack Stoll (shoulder) and Marlon Tuipulotu (triceps) – will practice again on Friday. Was.
Dean injured his foot in the opener and missed the remaining four weeks on Injured Reserve, but appears ready to return in Week 6.
“Mentally, I didn’t feel like there was a big change, because even after he passed away, he was still working hard,” Sirianni said. “But it was just a week going by, going into the individual period, going into the team period and seeing if he’s ready. He looks like he’s going to go there. We We’re excited about that as a football team.”
If the Eagles were to activate Dean, they would have until 4 p.m. Saturday to do so, which would require a corresponding roster move. The roster is full with 53 players.
In addition to those players, Fletcher Cox (returning) and Rashard Penny (illness) were listed as full players on Thursday and returned to practice on Friday. Cox missed last week’s game after receiving an epidural in his back, but appears to be ready for the Jets.
The Eagles are required to release their final injury report of the week on Friday afternoon.
