At its heart is the Rally1 category, which sits at the top of the FIA Rally Pyramid and utilizes regulations developed by the FIA in partnership with competing manufacturers Hyundai, M-Sport (Ford) and Toyota.
Rally1 vehicles are equipped with a plug-in hybrid kit that boosts power to over 500bhp. The hybrid electric vehicle zone near the Event Services Park allows driving only in electric mode. Meanwhile, the use of 100% fossil-free fuel reduces harmful emissions.
The Rally1 category saw close and open competition throughout 2023, with all three manufacturers winning events. Importantly, his three very different vehicle types were used in line with the regulatory philosophy: B-Class, C-Class, and compact crossover.
The design of the Rally1 machine has significantly improved safety through the use of a tubular safety cell, the result of several months of intensive research and development. This reduces accidental entry by up to 50%.
‘HY’ graphics on side door panels to identify Rally1 cars as part of a major electronic safety campaign rolled out by event organizers to highlight the use of hybrid technology and the potential safety risks associated with it It was used for. A Rally1 vehicle should only be considered safe to touch if a green light is illuminated on the windshield and pillars on both sides.
The WRC’s Global Tour will feature 13 rounds in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas from January to November. Drivers of Rally1, Rally2 and Rally3 vehicles can earn points and championship titles, but all four-wheel drive vehicles competing in WRC events must use tires specified by official supplier Pirelli.

What’s new in 2024?
- Instead of awarding points to the top 10 overall based on 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1 at the end of the WRC event, points will be allocated at the end of Saturday’s leg. As below: 18-15-13-10-8-6-4-3-2-1. However, if a crew fails to complete the entire route, including Sunday’s stage, no points will be issued. Instead, the crew that finishes last wins points. In a separate classification for all Sunday stage awards, the top seven finishers are designated as follows: 7-6-5-4-3-2-1. This change was made to discourage the practice of drivers choosing to go through the Sunday morning stages at a slower pace prior to pushing on the Power Stage, which is the final day of WRC events. This is having a negative impact on the spectacle of fans watching the developments unfold.
- Due to unavoidable gaps in the running order of events, points will no longer be awarded to the three fastest FIA WRC2 competitors on the Power Stage in order to ensure a fair distribution of points to all crews.
- Poland will return to the WRC squad for the first time since 2017, while Latvia will make its first appearance in the championship after being promoted from the FIA European Rally Championship, which was previously known as Rally Liepaja.
- Safari Rally Kenya has returned to its traditional Easter calendar slot, having been held in June for the past few seasons.
- Sect Rally Finland has been added to the FIA Junior WRC Championship schedule after a five-year hiatus.
- Based on regulations to reduce competition costs, up to three new hybrid units will be available per eligible Rally1 vehicle in 2024 (compared to nine previously).
- Rally1 vehicles can compete in WRC events without running a standard plug-in hybrid system. However, the ballast must carry the equivalent weight of a full EV system and will not be eligible for Manufacturer’s Championship points.
- There is no penalty for replacing a failed engine between pre-rally scrutineering and TC0 (official start of the event), provided the FIA Technical Delegate is notified and given the opportunity to seal the new engine before use. However, each manufacturer must not use more than two engines per car per season and must not assign a specific car name to each engine. In 2024, per car name he can seal up to two engines.
- Priority 2 crews can utilize the services of route note crews for sections of WRC events that are run entirely on asphalt.
- To set the running order of the Priority 2 crews, in addition to the expected performance, the championship standings (at the end of the previous season of Rallye Monte Carlo) are taken into account.
- Key media, influencers, celebrities and other VIP guests will be able to experience the thrill of high-speed passenger riding during all rounds of the WRC and test drive Rally1 hybrid technology to further promote the championship .
- Drivers and co-drivers competing for FIA WRC3 honors can count up to six scores from up to seven rallies.
- To earn WRC Masters Cup points, drivers and co-drivers must be born on or before January 1, 1974, and co-drivers must be paired with an eligible driver. You can count up to 6 points from the start of 7 matches, but you can no longer add bonus his scores in non-European events.
- If the timecard is not marked or signed at the controls, if the timecard does not include a time entry, or if the timecard is not presented at the controls, the crew may still be removed from the event if they can prove it. This is no longer the case. Passed the controls correctly.
