A Germantown sports bar and restaurant started by a former Memphis Grizzlies player will close before the new year.
Mike Miller’s Let It Fly Sports Bar, located at 9091 Poplar Ave. in Germantown, is permanently closed. Jason Polley, managing leasing director at Stonecrest Investments, confirmed to The Commercial Appeal on Tuesday that Let It Fly closed permanently on Sunday, December 31st.
Pauley said Stonecrest Investments is currently working with Miller to identify suitable replacements or tenants for the current lease. Pauley said he still has five years left on his 10-year lease. Let It Fly opened in October 2019 at the StoneCreek Center shopping mall in Germantown, managed by StoneCrest Investments. The currently vacant 4,527-square-foot space can seat about 140 people, Pauley said. He doesn’t expect the space to remain empty for long.
“There’s a lot of interest in this space, and since it’s a former restaurant with such a high profile on Poplar Street and Germantown, I think we’ll be able to find and secure a new restaurant quickly,” Pauley said.
Mr. Miller did not return calls seeking comment.
Let It Fly’s South Haven location is still under construction
Let It Fly Sports Bar has closed at one location in suburban Memphis, but plans to open another location in Southaven appear to be still in the works. The sports-themed restaurant is scheduled to open in the $200 million mixed-use Silo Square in midsummer 2024. Let It Fly announced plans to bring a sports bar and restaurant to DeSoto County in August 2022. In addition to food and drinks, the restaurant will also feature a golf simulator bay.
Other Let It Fly locations
Let It Fly also has sports bars and restaurants in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Omaha, Nebraska.
