The inaugural Grant Thornton Invitational will feature 16 teams comprised of top players from the PGA Tour and LPGA.
The 54-hole event will begin on Friday, Dec. 8 at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, and will feature scramble, foursomes and mixed four-ball formats. Here’s a breakdown of those three, according to tournament officials:
Round 1: Scramble
Each player hits a tee shot and the team chooses the ball to use for their next stroke. From there, both players will take their next shot from that spot. This process continues until the ball is holed.
Round 2: Foursome (alternating shots)
Players from each team take turns taking shots at the same ball until the ball goes into the hole. One player tees off on the odd numbered holes and his other player tees off on the even numbered holes.
Round 3: Modified four-ball
Both players tee off, exchange balls on the second shot, and play the same ball until they hole it. The lower partner’s score counts as the team’s score for that hole.
The participating teams are the following 16 teams.
