TRUMAN – The Truman City Council held a short meeting Monday to hear a report on community building projects. Deputy Clerk Carol Becker said the grant they received was $40,000 and the city has received about $5,700 in community building contributions this year.
“So far, $27,200 has been spent in grant funding.” Becker said.
But recent roofing and flooring work still requires invoices, she said. Once these bills are deposited into the grant, the money may be gone.
“They spent about $5,000 of their donations so far on stainless steel… in return. Whoever did that, they only charged for the cost of materials, not labor.” Becker said.
She talked about other money spent installing countertops, but said there was still nearly $2,000 left in donations.
Becker also shared that the city received a request for funds from the card club to paint the community building’s fireplace room. But the card club ultimately announced later this week that it would use its own funds to paint the rooms, a move approved by the City Council.
In other news, Director of Utilities Brent Brown provided some updates. Brown touched on the 2024 public works budget and said that while some items have changed, no adjustments have been made in recent weeks.
“You won’t notice it because your revenue won’t change.” Mr. Brown said.
He also said he had received two estimates to repair the power plant’s roof, but was still waiting on another, and once that was received, the options would go back to council for a decision and be included in the budget. Ta.
