Despite struggles between the Bengals and Chiefs, the NFL concluded its Week 17 games as follows: Premier game late Sunday afternoon Dolphins vs. Ravens. The Bengals and Chiefs have had one of the best rivalries in the NFL over the past few seasons.
Both teams have had some silly conversations on and off the field, and that continued Thursday in the Bengals’ locker room.
Bengals star receiver Ja’Marr Chase dismissed the Chiefs’ defense when asked a bland question about what makes them stand out.
“to be honest, there is nothing” Chase said in a video from Mike Petraglia of Jungle Roar Pod. “They just know how we play. They know the impact. . . . They know what we’re going to do, certain moves. They know the outside. To stop two of their best players, they’ve thrown us a small double-double. That’s all they do. They didn’t add Jalen Ramsey to the team. So, not a lot [stands out]”
Chase set a franchise record with 266 receiving yards in Week 17 of the 2021 season against the Chiefs, and has totaled 12 catches for 129 yards and one touchdown in two postseason games.
He said he loves playing for the Chiefs because they “say the most crappy things,” adding that he doesn’t care about “adding fire to the fuel.”
“They can take it however they want. I do not care” Chase said. “At the end of the day, there’s only so much you can do. You’re not Iron Man. You can’t throw a football at yourself. It’s a team sport. I know what I see on paper. . I know what I saw in the game. You can’t do it one-on-one, so that’s why you double everyone. The best players on their team are [L’Jarius] Is required. That’s a fact. Everyone knows that. That’s why they double everything they see. ”
Chase, who missed last week’s game with a right shoulder injury, is on the right track to return after being limited in work Thursday. He said his status for Sunday is still up in the air, but the Chiefs know what to expect if he plays.
“They know I’m good. They know how we play,” Chase said. “That’s what it is. But it’s not like we have superstars on the defensive end.”
He called on the Chiefs to accept his comments and “run with it.”
“I hope they put it in the locker,” he said.
Chase has 93 receptions for 1,156 yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games this season.
