Luke Littler said he “didn’t even practice for 10 minutes” before winning the Bahrain Darts Masters in his World Series debut last week.
The teenage sensation shined in his first tournament since the World Championships, defeating Nathan Aspinall, Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen to lift the trophy.
He also hit nine darters in the first leg of the quarter-final against Aspinall, proving that his incredible run to the Alexandra Palace final was no fluke.
The 17-year-old’s incredible talent was clear for all to see, and it was demonstrated when he quickly achieved success in Bahrain without any preparation.
Littler said he had hardly thrown a dart between the world championship final on January 3 and the start of the tournament in Bahrain on January 18.
Asked by the Guardian about his best moment last month, Littler said: “Probably going to Bahrain last week and winning that tournament without even practicing for 10 minutes.”
“No one believed me when I said I hadn’t thrown a dart since the world finals.”
On how he was able to get his perfect leg up quickly against Asp, he said: He hit a nine-darter in Gibraltar in 2021 when he was 14 years old. ”
Littler faces Dirk van Duijvenbode in Den Bosch on Friday night and is enjoying another chance at the title.
“I was really happy to beat three great players in Nathan, Gaethje and Michael. It was amazing!” Littler said of Bahrain.
“I cross the line every time because I believe in my abilities.
“The standard will be good again. It’s going to be tough, but it should be a great weekend and winning the title again would be a big bonus.”
