Automatic feeding: Automobile manufacturers Mahindra and Mahindra announced on February 16 that they have signed a supply agreement with German automaker Volkswagen.
As part of the deal, the automaker will equip a range of its electric platform Inglo with Volkswagen’s MEB battery modules and unified cell electronic components.
Meanwhile, major automakers will also continue to explore potential opportunities for collaboration with India in e-mobility.
The deal makes the Mumbai-based company the first external partner to adopt the unified cell concept, which is a core element of Volkswagen’s battery strategy.
The supply agreement will continue for several years, with total production expected to be close to 50GWH.
The two companies are considering further cooperation opportunities, the statement added.
Volkswagen has developed a modular open vehicle platform for EVs called MEB. It is used to manufacture our own cars and those of other group companies such as Škoda and Audi. This will also allow Volkswagen to supply electronic technology and components to other automakers.
The supply deal was a first for Volkswagen, but the automaker announced last September that it was negotiating similar deals with other players. This includes Asian internal combustion engine car makers that are considering producing cars for the European market through Volkswagen. collaboration.
