The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence presented Sean Bauman of Shelokta with Nissan/ASE at ASE’s Nov. 15 board meeting held at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa in Clearwater, Florida. Awarded as the Automotive Engineer of the Year.
Baumann, an ASE certified technician at Mark Arbuckle Nissan on Philadelphia Avenue, was one of 53 automotive professionals recognized by the board. Paul Mathias, Nissan Technical Training Manager, Homer Hogg, ASE Chairman of the Board, and Timothy Zilke, ASE President and CEO, presented the award and presented the award to approximately 250,000 ASEs nationwide. We spotlighted the top scorers on the ASE certification test among certified professionals.
“(Bauman) is one of the premier ASE certified professionals recognized annually in various areas of the automotive service and repair industry,” Zilke said. “These elite technicians will be recognized with industry-specific awards for their achievements.
“We are proud to partner with Nissan to recognize Sean’s outstanding commitment to providing the best in automotive service and repair. This dedication recognizes the talented professionals we honor each year. It’s a reflection, and Sean represents the best of the best.”
Thirty-five companies from both the original equipment manufacturer and aftermarket sectors of the automotive industry sponsored individual technology recognition awards and instructor awards in the auto, truck, collision, parts and service categories. In addition to looking for the highest score on the ASE test, award sponsors consider excellence in the field, community service, and other factors when selecting winners.
“For more than 40 years, ASE has recognized outstanding industry professionals from across the country,” Zilke said. “This is made possible with the support of many award sponsors, including some of the most recognizable names in the industry.”
ASE was founded in 1972 as a nonprofit, third-party professional certification organization that certifies professionals and businesses in the automotive service and repair industry. Currently, approximately 220,000 of his ASE-certified professionals work in dealerships, independent shops, collision repair shops, auto parts stores, vehicle fleets, schools, universities and more across the country.
