Looking back over the past 12 months, the 32-year-old has had his fair share of good and bad times.
Aspinall reached the quarter-finals of the British Open, was runner-up in the World Series of Darts finals and won his second career major at the World Matchplay.
However, ASP also missed out on the Premier League play-offs and most recently lost in the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship.
“The year itself has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs,” Aspinall told Planet Sports. “I started with a decent result at the British Open. It took a great performance from Michael van Gerwen to beat me.
“It was obviously a dream to go back to the Premier League. I did very well and had a good Premier League season. But throughout the Premier League there were a lot of flaws in my game and a bit of a dart. The flames were a factor. It was a bit of a struggle at the end.
“I dusted myself off, and obviously Match Play was the pinnacle. The biggest moment of my career.
“The middle of the year was great because we backed that up with the World Series final and then the final in New Zealand.
“But we definitely had a dip at the end of the year. That was disappointing. But overall it was a great season. We got to the majors, got back to the Premier League, got back to the World Series. Hopefully we can improve in 2024. I am.”
Aspinall will be one of 16 players this week taking part in the second Bahrain Masters, the tournament that marks the start of the latest World Series of Darts.
ASP will face Lawrence Ilagan in the opening match, and if both players advance, he could face world championship finalist Luke Littler in the quarterfinals.
Looking ahead to the new season, Aspinall highlighted three main ambitions for the season.
he said: “We are playing so many games, so many tournaments, so we have to take part in the tournaments at once. The first World Series of the year starts in Bahrain.
“I have set a goal for this year: I want to be in the top four. I am currently in the top four, just 250 pounds behind Gerwyn Price.
“We want to stay in the top four at the end of the season and win another major. Certainly, the big goal is to get into the play-offs in the Premier League. Look what happens in London.”
